The Dodge Dart is a compact sedan that debuted at the 2012 North American International Auto Show on January 9, 2012. The Dart is based on a version of the Fiat Compact platform, like the Alfa Romeo Giulietta but enlarged 1.5 in (38 mm) in width and with a 3.7 in (94 mm) longer wheelbase that is now called the Compact U.S. Wide (CUSW) platform. Development cost of the Dart was US$1 billion and took about 18 months to design the Dart on the platform of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta adapted to U.S. requirements. The Dart is Dodge's first compact sedan since the discontinuation of the Dodge Neon and Dodge Neon SRT-4 in 2005.
